3d wallpaper sample - final changes

Edged with gold leaf and layers between natural tissue paper pieces

Gift Range pieces

I have began experimenting over easter until I can get back to uni to work further on my wallpapers, with creating gift bags and greeting cards that I plan to have on sale at exhibition. Below I have done a sample of a hand screen printed gift bag and card and attached rhinestones, like I have on my 2d wallpaper, so the collection looks as one. ( I will also decorate business cards with these when I can get images of my 3d wallpaper samples, as still need to do some more laser cutting and edge them in gold leaf). The gift tags I have hand screen printed to put my own stamp on labels to show prices etc.
I havent decided on prices yet for the below but these are how I want them to look and will create a buddle to display. I also plan on doing some keychains using images of my 3d wallpaper.

Change to one of final wallpapers

As you know I am to exhibit 3 wallpapers, one 2d and screen printed over, a 3d one with laser cut added pieces and the final was to be simply printed and displayed, however, After a group crit at uni last week, I have decided to add gem pieces to this wallpaper to add a little something and a bit of sparkle, i shall also be thinking of adding these to my businness cards which should make a nice touch.

Laser cut samples for 3d wallpaper

These images below show how I plan to piece my wallpaper together, I have had the shapes cut from a separate design and from natural tissue paper, some pieces are pieced together back wards and others the correct way, one side on each will show pattern and the delicate tissue pieces feed inbetween the layout. I am next to sample by adding gold leaf to edges of pieces to see if that works and breaks up the intensity of some patterns. I have also made the decision that the laser cut butterflys with be places straight down the middle collum and not alternatly scattered as I feel due to the size of them it would take over the entire width of roll on display. New samples to come soon
this one here is the order I want my pieces to be composed together, below looks a little lost. These will now be sampled spraying the white ones in gold leaf spray and the edging of the patternd laser cut shapes with be edged in glod leaf pieces. Samples to come

New Samples

I have began sampling using my pearlesant shades, puff binder and pearlesant on its own.
Some are more sucessful than others, however I have tried to keep the colours to my colour palette linking my collection.

First of all I ve used black mixed with pearlesant, which hasn't really worked as I hoped it would, it resembles that of a spider web really, not the vibe I was heading for.

and again with what I thought was a purple shade turned out a pale pinky.
This I just screen printed using pearlesant and what I think I shall be going with for my final 2d design. However below i tried mixing some alternative colours mixed with pearlesant and puff binder, however when I heated them either I'd mixed the quantites incorrect or I just dont like the outcome!

Sample prints of wallpapers

Here are my sample prints of my final wallpaper designs to be worked over.
Printing these samples let me see how life size the compostions and shapes were. I needed to do these to make sure all the sizings worked however if you imagine that is one roll width, that side by side, 3 or 4 strips could look too digital and daze your eyes taking away from the actual patterns, so I created some larger scale and had these printed aswell( these are the ones I will be choosing however I do need to re-scale the design that will have laser cut pieces attached as it looks a little disorted from my original.

Finalised cad designs for collection - experimentation next!

I have chosen 4 designs to move forward with to sample with for 3d wallpaper using laser cut technology, my 2d wallpaper using screen designs to layer with and print and in the process of tweeking areas for my final simple printed cad design which will not be manipulated. Below are the 3 designs for my decorative butterfly forms collection :)

this above I plan to be my simply printed length design, not manipulated.

Above is the design I plan on screen printing over creating more texture and detail, - if samples go to plan next!

this design will be my 3d wallpaper with attatchable laser cut pieces creating butterfly clusters

this is the design that will not be a printed length, however still forming parts of my collection. this design will be used within the 3d laser cut wallpaper and hopefully incorporated into my next stage of designing 3d lampshades to go with the wallpapers to exhibit

Developmental CAD designs for wallpaper lengths

I have started developing some compositions from the drawings and samples I have chosen to develop for my collection. My main ideas are to produce a 2d wallpaper using cad and screen printing and a 3d wallpaper length using cad designs and laser cut technology. Along side these at exhibition I am aiming to produce a lampshade collection using laser cut technology and have my designs printed on, not sure how yet either screen printed or by some other means, this is something I am still looking into however at the moment my tutor has advised I focus on creating many compositional layouts so I can see how things look and what works best to move on with. Above are the first 3 I did which are not the best I will admit! after discussing these with my tutor they don't seem to fit together and look too digital. So I started reflecting areas and shapes of samples to produce the below, which I think work much better however the pieces are very busy and full of colour, they look very intense and some slightly too much and crazy!

this design below I think could be a really effective linear screen print in black over a design, the shapes and composition of the design is what sort of thing i have had in mind for layering over my 2d wallpaper length.
This one below is a prime example of a crazy too intense design, too many colours, which always isnt a bad thing however it doesnt work below here. This spread all over one wall you can imagine your eyes going a bit funny and dizzy.
These colour tones work much better together below, still a bit full on though.

Here I have toned them down a bit, after looking at my inspiration previously posted, Looking at the designers pieces they seem to have light areas and not have a full intense pattern. This is what I've tried to work towards below as I still want to add laser cut areas to designs and this is what needs to be kept in mind when producing designs.
